How it all started...
The First Baptist Church of Paris, Missouri was founded on May 7, 1831, with eighteen members. The church originally met in the home of Eli Bozarth four miles south of Paris. In 1833 the first building was constructed. In 1918 our current building at 100 N. Main was completed. Our beautiful building has ten unique, antique stained-glass windows donated by various families and an original pipe organ donated by the Carnegie Foundation. From its conception to 1970, five churches were birthed from our congregation.
Expanding the vision...
The church added an Education Center and Fellowship Hall that was completed in 1983. In 2019 the American Legion Hall that sits adjacent to the north of the church was purchased and is currently being renovated as a church/community center renamed Legacy Hall. Upon its completion, it will be used for ministry activities as well as community outreach and activities.
Where we are headed...
